Chapter Two - Missing


Siwon sat down roughly in a chair as he slapped a case file on his desk; a furious look showed in his brown eyes, his thick eyebrows furrowing.

"Gah!" The law student yelled as he leaned back in his swivelling chair and ran his hands through his short black hair. Everyone in the Police department was staring at him for his sudden outburst. But since Ki Bum was with him, no one asked questions. "There's nothing here." Siwon said bitterly to his young detective friend.

"We will find her." Ki Bum said as he leaned forward in his chair and grabbed the file Siwon had tossed aside. When he noticed his friend didn't look at him, he hit him lightly on the head with the file. "We will find her." Ki Bum repeated a he looked at Siwon. He turned his head a little to look at him. "I promise." Ki Bum said, looking his friend right in the eye.

Siwon couldn't help but believe his best friend; when he said he'd do something, he did it or almost killed himself trying. He hadn't become Chicago's ace detective at only the age of 21 on his good looks alone. Though he probably could have. He was 5'10", Korean with somewhat long dark brown, wavy hair, and expressive brown eyes. His nose was small and perfect lips as well.

Siwon himself was only twenty-two, only six months older than Ki Bum and standing at 6'2". He too was Korean. The two of them had actually known each other since way back when they lived in Seoul, Korea until the age of fourteen.

"Thanks," Siwon said with a sigh. "I just hope Theresa is alright." Theresa Fu - Siwon's high school sweetheart - had been missing for almost 48 hours. The only clues that they had were witness testaments her cell phone, iPod and the smashed necklace Siwon had given to her. It had been found outside of the park near where he lived.

They arrived on scene the next day of the napping. There on the ground Ki Bum had found a necklace. That necklace had been Theresa's. There was no doubt about it. The 'S' for Siwon and the Chinese symbol for 'love'. He bent drown, picking up whatever there was of it and held it in his hand and observed it. He was with Siwon when he had bought this for her.

Siwon was going to be so upset when he saw this. His heart would be broken just hers was the moment that it she realized that it had left her neck. They had already taken her phone and iPod and placed them carefully in bags to bring to the lab for fingerprints. Ki Bum had a feeling that they weren't going to find anyone else’s but hers and Siwon's maybe. It was pointless. They must've fallen out of her pockets or whatever she was wearing when they picked her up and threw her into the back of the van.

Ki Bum had pushed himself up and walked over to Siwon who was talking with a witness that they were able to find. He tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around after he finished talking to the witness and pointed them in the direction of another officer.

Siwon turned around and saw the sad look on Ki Bum's face. Ki Bum raised his hand a little and Siwon looked down at it. He opened up his hand, showing Siwon the necklace. All he could do was shake his head and take the necklace. His eyes started to tear up and he turned around and headed on to his car to cry. Ki Bum watched Siwon placed his head face down on his steering wheel. It was sad to see him like this. He couldn't wait until they found her so that things could go back to the way that they were before.

Ki Bum read through the case file for the umpteenth time. "Witnesses state that they saw a group of Chinese men abduct Theresa around eight thirty Tuesday night. She was thrown into a black windowless van. Thankfully someone was able to write down the license plate number. So, at least we have that." He crossed his legs and puffed up his cheeks and released his breath and handed the files back to Siwon.

"But, we already tracked it and found the van deserted in an alleyway." Siwon said as he flipped through the files. "We don't have any other leads. No clues. No other witnesses. Nothing." He said, frustrated.

Ki Bum leaned back in his chair, his hands behind his head, thinking. This happened to be one of his favourite hobbies. If there was a problem Ki Bum could solve it. Something that he was always good at doing. Siwon envied his friend for that but was glad to have him on his side.

"There is only one person that would have done this. Only one person that would take her." Siwon said as his friend thought. "That Triad leader my dad put in jail years ago is out and wants revenge.

"And targeting his son's girlfriend is the best way to try and get what he wants." Ki Bum said. "Be it revenge to make you suffer or something else. Either way..."

Siwon sighed. A little annoyed. "We know all that. But we don't know where to start tracking those damn bastards."

"You're father's trying his best to find Andy." Ki Bum said and placed his hand on Siwon's shoulder. "But, he is a hard man to track. He was hard to find the first time. But you don't have to worry. We and your father will find him again."

Andy Lau; the name made Siwon want to smash the nearest crooks head in. Lau was the leader of the Triad in Chicago and the biggest name in all things illegal in the city. Guns, drugs, prostitution, murder; you name it.

Siwon placed the file down open on the desk and rested his elbows on the desk, pulling himself in. "I want to find him now though!" He said angrily, but quietly.

Ki Bum sucked in his lips and pushed himself up and ran his fingers through his hair. "I know. But, we have to wait until we find more leads. Until then all we can do is wait and figure out what he plans to do next." Then he crossed his arms, looked up at the ceiling and thought. "But, the thing is he hasn't sent anything to provoke us... or you to do anything. Usually they send something to get you going but..."

"I swear, if that bastard does anything to hurt her..." He said through clenched teeth. "I will make sure that he and his family pay for this."

Ki Bum's eyes widened and he looked down at Siwon. "No! Then you wouldn't be any better than him. What are you going to do huh? Are you going to go and kidnap one of his family members as bait until you get Theresa back?" He let his arms drop to his sides. "You know that you can't do that!"

"Well, he took her and he's using her as bait." He shut his eyes tightly. He knew that Ki Bum was right though. If he kidnapped one of Andy's relatives then he wouldn't be any better than he. He stomped the floor and made Ki Bum flinch. "I just want Theresa back!" He said loudly.

The office went quiet and turned all of their attention towards Ki Bum and Siwon. Ki Bum felt the others watching them and he looked around at everyone and signaled with his hands that everything was okay and that they should just go back to work. They all nodded, confused and went back to work.

Ki Bum leaned forward, resting his hands on the edge of the desk and looked over at the case file. Siwon had turned his head a little, eyes closed as he rubbed the right one. Ki Bum could see the dark circles under Siwon's eyes that had formed from lack of sleep. He hadn't slept since he heard that Theresa had been kidnapped. He sighed, pushing himself up and placed his hand on Siwon's back. "Maybe you should go home man. Get some sleep. Things will be better in the morning I promise." He said, hoping to sound sincere about his concern for his friend and his loss.

Siwon sighed and looked up at Ki Bum. He saw the sad look in his eyes and concern. At least Ki Bum had been able to sleep. Of course he would be able to because his girlfriend hadn't been kidnapped. He lowered his head, "Okay." He pushed himself up, giving into his friend. He looked at the clock on the computer. It was past eleven anyway. A good nights sleep would be good for him. A fresh new start to begin looking for her again.

Ki Bum smiled. "Good!" He placed his hands on his hips. "Get a good nights sleep and be back in the morning."

Siwon nodded. "I will." He said with a forced smile, grabbing his stuff and began to walk away. He stopped and turned halfway around to look at Ki Bum. "And thanks Ki Bum."

He nodded his head and replied with an encouraging smile. Siwon smiled again and then turned around, continuing to walk out of the office. He walked down the steps and got into his car and drove on home.

Ki Bum sat back down in his chair and looked at the file once again. Going over it for a few moments before he headed on home himself. At least they had an idea of why Andy had taken Theresa. It just wasn't fair.

He had it easier though. He knew that his girlfriend wouldn't get kidnapped. Though possibly she could be seeing as how it was Siwon's little sister. Now she was beautiful. She had beautiful black hair that fell over her shoulders. Her eyes brown and loving. A small nose, small lips and a perfectly shaped smooth face. She was perfection in his eyes. He looked at the picture that he had of the both of them on his side of the desk and smiled at it. He rested his chin on the palm of his hand and stared at the picture. He was lost in the picture.

But was soon brought back to reality when a pair of arms wrapped their arms around his neck. He smiled. He knew that smell of vanilla. It was Eunah. But, what was she doing here this late at night?

"Hey you." She said happily.

Ki Bum smiled. "Hey Eunnie." He replied back and turned his head to face her and kissed her and she kissed him back. "Why aren't you at home?" He asked her and she let go of him and he turned his chair around to look at her.

She stood up straight and entwined her fingers in front of her. "Well, I was coming to see my oppa but, he's not here obviously."

"Yeah. I sent him home."

"You mean he actually went home?" She gasped and her eyes widened. She was surprised that her brother had gone home to sleep. Hopefully he did. He needed it badly. "That's a surprise." She laughed.

Ki Bum smiled and laughed as well. "Yeah."

She stopped and smiled a little and then sat in her brothers chair and pulled herself closer to the desk. She looked at the case file. It had Theresa's picture on it and underneath was Andy and others that worked for him. She was instantly saddened. She felt so bad for her brother and losing his girlfriend to such a man. Who knows what kind of horrible things he could have possibly done to her by now or later on.

Eunah had begun to cry and Ki Bum stood up from his seat and placed his hand over hers and helped her stand up. He hugged her. "It's okay. We'll find your brothers girlfriend. I promise that we will." He kissed the top of her head. "Now, let's go home. It's late and we need to be here early to continue."

She nodded her head in his chest and then pushed herself away. He wrapped his arm around her waist and held her close to himself as he grabbed his jacket and his case and headed on out towards the doors. Hopefully tomorrow would be a little more rewarding for them. Maybe they could get some more clues by checking the scenes again. That was all they could do right now until they got more leads. But, the thing that they all needed was a good nights sleep to be able to have the energy for tomorrows hard day.

Siwon arrived home and changed quickly out of his clothes that he had been in for days. He was too lazy to have a shower. He could just have one in the morning anyway. He went to bed shirtless, wearing only his boxers. This was what he always wore when going to bed. even in the winter time. He was warm blooded.

He rolled over onto his side and stretched out his hand over where Theresa slept. Now he had no one to keep warm. For the past two days he couldn't hold her in his arms. Something that he wasn't used to anymore. He'd spent so many years with her lying in his arms. He was okay when she was at her parents. At least he knew where she was because she would phone and say good night to him. Now, he had no idea where she was. There was no phone call telling him that she was safe.

She was in danger and he was here, in a nice bed. Where was she sleeping? He sure hoped that nothing bad was happening to her right now. He began to cry at almost every possible thought or thing that could happen to her. His heart began to ache and he bawled his eyes out. Eventually falling asleep from crying.
